Help us ensure that all women have access to
mammograms and lifesaving treatment services.
Today, there is only enough funding to screen 1 in 5 eligible women for the community-based breast and cervical cancer screening program run by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The result is that millions of women are going without lifesaving screenings and treatment. Together, we can change the odds by taking action today. Take action now to help save someone's mother, sister, daughter or friend.

Lifesaving Breast Cancer Act
Signed Into Law
In 2007, President Bush signed the National Breast and
Cervical Cancer Early Detection Reauthorization Act into Law.
ACS CAN Volunteers and Making Strides participants from across the nation have advocated for the past two years for the reauthorization of this lifesaving bill.
Last year, U.S. Senators were targeted through the "We Can Change the Odds" petition campaign. Thousands of petitions were delivered to Senators and Making Strides participants and ACS CAN volunteers made their voice heard.
In early 2007 both the U.S. House and Senate voted in favor of the B&C Reauthorization and in April of 2007, President Bush signed the Act into Law.
But we can't stop here! The Reauthorization is only the first step in improving this lifesaving program. Throughout this Making Strides season, we will continue to urge Congress for more funding for this program, ensuring that more uninsured and underinsured women are served.

We Saved Mammograms
The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Networksm (ACS CAN) mounted an unprecedented campaign to stop a bill that would have eliminated guaranteed insurance coverage for mammograms and other lifesaving cancer screenings and treatment.
Making Strides participants from across the country joined together with more than 100,000 ACS CAN volunteers in convincing their U.S. Senators to oppose the bill.
